Audio E-cards

If you want to send a personalized online greeting to someone special, but are not sure how to make it both fun and interesting, an audio e-card might be your answer.

Perfect for any occasion, audio e-cards –also known as talking greeting cards – are composed of one or more images (usually animated) singing along to background music and are sent via e-mail to intended recipients. Cards are customized based on a specific concept, featuring your choice of music, background, color, text and message.

Where to Find Audio E-cards

Gaining popularity since 1996, e-cards have become one of the most popular ways to stay in touch with friends and family. Though most Web sites offer these electronic greetings for free, some sites are beginning to charge users for special premium e-cards.

Listed below are several Web sites which allow you to send audio e-cards either free of charge, or with a low membership fee:

• Hallmark.com
- Some e-cards are free, while others require a subscription
• Yahoo.com
- Free 30-day trial with access to over 8,000 e-cards ($13.99 once trial ends)
• Cardfountain.com/Mylovecards.com
- Free adult e-cards with a wide array of choices
• HereYouGo.com
- Various audio greetings blend humor and romance for a variety of occasions

Selecting & Sending an Audio E-card

If your audio e-card includes animated images and you want its recipient to enjoy the full effect of your card, it is best to select flash-animated cards. These cards – which use Macromedia Flash Player – are the most advanced and most popular online cards.

Once you select your pre-written card style, which usually includes an image and message, specify your name and e-mail address, as well as the recipient's information, possibly create a heading for your greeting and write a personalized message. After you have finished, you may be provided with the option to view your completed card, making any additional changes you deem necessary.

After you send your greeting, the recipient will receive an e-mail informing them you have sent them an audio e-card with a special audio message. A link to the audio e-card is provided at the bottom of the message. Once the recipient clicks on the provided link, they are able to open your audio e-card.

Reasons to Send an Audio E-card

Audio e-cards have become a uniquely popular way to send online greetings. With so many special occasions – holidays, birthdays, anniversaries – a wide variety of audio e-cards have been created.
Even though you will not be able to see or hear the recipient's reaction to your greeting, you can be assured they enjoyed viewing and listening to your audio e-card just as much as you enjoyed creating it!
